With sectionals right around the corner, the Guilderland girls’ field hockey and volleyball teams made a final push last week.

Volleyball teams for Guilderland boys, with a 2-6 record, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls, at 5-5, might be having rough seasons but they still play hard on the court as they push towards sectionals. This past week, both teams were victorious.

The Guilderland-Voorheesville girls’ swim team is already making big splashes. Even before sectionals, swimmers have qualified for state competition: two relay teams, two individual swimmers, and two divers. Guilderville swam against Saratoga at home on Wednesday afternoon, winning, 92 to 72.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs and the Guilderland Dutchmen raced in the 47th Guilderland International Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland.

The Guilderland Girls Varsity tennis team is off to a powerful start to the season by winning the Oneida Invitational and two suburban council wins.

The Guilderland Dutchmen and Voorheesville Blackbirds had a tough opening match on the pitch to start of the season for both teams on Tuesday August 29th.

The golf season got an early start, before school opens, as Guilderland and Voorheesville varsity golf teams hit the links to get ready for sectionals at the end of the season on August 23.

On Friday at Orchard Creek Golf Course, 144 golfers helped raise money for the Guilderland 2 sport Athletes for a scholarship.

Athletes from three countries and many states converged on the Capital Region this week to compete in the 2017 JCC Maccabi Games, an Olympic-style competition for Jewish teenagers ages 13 to 16.

Senior leadership helped teams from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville this year. Some seniors led their teams to deep sectional runs or even to victory in sectional championships.
