Guilderland High School

The undefeated Dutchmen faced off against Niskayuna at Snyder field Sept. 23. The Dutch led at the half but yielded the tying goal in the second half to end in a 1-1 draw. Earlier in the week, Guilderland Head Coach Mike Kinnally won his 200th game.

On Monday, Sept. 20, the Guilderland Field hockey team faced off against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on the field turf at Afrim’s Sports Park in Latham. The Dutch couldn’t break the solid defense of the Spartans all game long and fell 2-to-0.

On Saturday, Sept. 18, Guilderland girls tennis battled Saratoga in a Suburban Council matchup at the University at Albany tennis courts. The Dutch’s main courts are under construction due to the capital project at the school. The Dutch fell 6-to-3.

Guilderland football played the home opener of the 2021 season on Sept. 17. It was also pop warner night. The “players of tomorrow” joined the varsity team and cheerleaders on the field at halftime.

On a bright and sunny Saturday morning, September 11th, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville cross-country teams took part in the Blackbird Invitational at Swift Town Park in New Scotland. The Voorheesville girls won the Division 2 title, the boys took 12th.

The Guilderland boys’ volleyball team traveled up to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to take on the Spartans Friday. The Dutch couldn’t get anything going against the brickwall defense of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake losing in straight sets; 11-25, 11-25, 10-25.

On September 2, the Guilderland girls volleyball faced off against Suburban Council foe in Saratoga at home. The Dutch shook off a rough start and the last four sets were an intense back and forth matchup. The Dutch fell three sets to two; 14-25, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25.

On Monday morning, August 30, the Dutchmen took on Shaker at Western Turnpike Golf Course in a Suburban Council matchup. The boys fell 240-to-263 while the girls won 134-to-166.

On June 10th, the Guilderland Dutchmen softball team traveled to Shenendehowa for the Section 2, Class AA sectional semifinal. The Plainsmen’s starting pitcher kept the Dutch batters guessing all game long and only allowed five hits in the Dutch’s 6-to-1 loss.

On Tuesday afternoon, June 15th, the Guilderland boys lacrosse team was one win away from winning their first sectional title since 2009. In the first quarter, the Dutch and the Bison traded goals in a close contest. After that, Guilderland’s offense took over and they never trailed again.
