Photos: Birds Repeat As Champs, Five Others Qualify For States
On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Guilderland, Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 cross-country championships at Queensbury High School. The Voorheesville girls’ team repeated as champs.

Another title: The nine runners of the Voorheesville Blackbirds dart from the starting line in the Class C race. The Blackbirds captured the team title with 78 points and will all compete this Saturday at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School to defend their state championship.

Pack running: Bulldogs’ Owen Lounsbury (125), Joaquin Abraham (122), Miles Perkins, Jordan Jones and Arlen Wright (128) all sprint past the starter in the Class D race. Lounsbury finished 9th with a time of 18:03, Abraham finished 39th with a time of 19:53.3, Perkins finished 66th with a time of 21:18.9, Jones finished 93rd with a time of 28:29.4 and Wright finished 34th with a time of 19:34.9.

All in line: Guilderland’s Alexa Kosier (377), Lily Hubbard (374) and Danika Kosier (378) sandwich two Shen runners as they approach the final turn. A. Kosier finished 35th with a time of 19:56.1, Hubbard finished 36th with a time of 19:56.5 and D. Kosier finished 38th with a time of 20:00.8.
