Guilderland High School

On Friday, Oct. 21, the Guilderland football team kicked off on a new turf field against Shaker, a familiar foe. Shaker’s defense held the Dutch down all game long. It was a very important game for the Dutch as they are looking to make the playoffs.

On Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18, the Guilderland field hockey team hosted the Columbia Blue Devils in the Section 2, Class A sectional quarterfinal at Afrim’s Sports Park. Guilderland took an early lead and never looked back, winning 5 to 0.

On Tuesday morning, Oct. 18, the Guilderland girls tennis team took to the courts at Central Park in Schenectady to battle for an opportunity to head to the State Competition.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Guilderland volleyball team participated in the 2022 Shen Fall Festival at the Impact Athletic Center in Clifton Park along with 19 other schools around the state. The Dutch went 2-4 in pool play, 3rd, and lost in the silver bracket quarterfinals to Galway.

The Guilderland football team battled rival Bethlehem in their homecoming game on Sept. 30. It was supposed to be played at Guilderland but the new turf field isn’t fully completed so it was held at Mohonasen High School. It was a defense-focused game, but the Dutch held on to win 8 to 7.

On Friday, Sept. 30, the Guilderland boys’ volleyball team hosted a Suburban Council matchup against Colonie at Guilderland High School. The Dutch team played well and won 3 sets to one; 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17.

On a windy afternoon, Sept. 22, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team hosted Christian Brothers Academy. The game went back and forth in the first half, but after halftime, the Dutch scored five unanswered goals to pull away and beat the Brothers, 6 to 1.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Guilderland girls’ tennis team hosted the Shaker Bison, a team they haven’t beaten in the regular season in four years. That changed this week, as Guilderland won, 7 to 2.

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Guilderland-Voorheesville girls swim team hosted Ballston Spa at Clayton A. Bouton High School. Guilderville pulled away late to beat the Scotties, 104 to 82.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, Voorheesville held their Blackbirds Invitational at Swift Town Park, with 23 schools battling it out in two divisions. Guilderland finished second for the boys and third for the girls.
