On Friday, Dec. 17, the Guilderland Girls basketball team visited Schenectady for an early matinee game due to the junior varsity game being cancelled amid COVID concerns. The Dutch led from the opening tip to the final whistle with a 58-to-34 win.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Guilderland-Mohonasen-Scotia/Glenville-Schalmont-Voorheesville Storm took on Niskayuna-Amsterdam-Schenectady-Albany Mohawks at Union College for a Stick it to Cancer event. From the opening face off the Storm led till the final buzzer and won 4 to 0.

The Guilderville boys swim team held the first meet of its season Dec. 7. The pool’s temperature forced them to travel to Bethlehem High School. Guilderville fell 108 to 75.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, the Guilderland Dutchmen wrestling team traveled to Columbia High School in East Greenbush for the Columbia Blue Devil Round Robin tournament. The 12 Dutch wrestlers wrestled well with six of them finishing in the top three.

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Guilderland Dutchmen bowling team started off on the right foot by beating Bethlehem at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. Guilderland won 29 and a half to 2 and a half, with 3471 to 2765 in pins.

On the weekend of Nov. 19 and 20, Guilderville’s Brooke Sommo competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls’ swimming and diving championships at Ithaca College in Ithaca.

On Friday, Nov. 5, Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Middleburgh, Guilderland and Voorheesville cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 cross-country championships at Saratoga State Park. Voorheesville girls won Class C with 29 points while the boys finished fourth with 146.

On Friday, Nov. 5, the Guilderland football team took to the field in the Section 2, Class AA semifinals at home as they faced off against Christian Brothers Academy. Guilderland couldn’t muster much offense against CBA and fell 20-to-7.

The Section 2 girls swimming sectionals took place at the Aquatic Center at Shenendehowa High School for a three-day event. Guilderland-Voorheesville finished seventh with 105 points in Division 1 and Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Duanesburg won its first ever sectional title with 343 points.

On Sunday, Oct. 31, the Guilderland Dutchmen Field Hockey team went through a battle in the Class A sectional championship against Shenendehowa at Schuylerville High School. Both teams went back and forth trading blows but the Plainsmen scored late to win 1-to-0.
