At its Sept. 12 meeting, the Guilderland School Board voted to affix a notice to the deed for property the school district owns — just north of the football field and including the northern end of the new bus depot — stating that any future construction on the land would involve a risk of vapor intrusion and that, in the event of planned development, the Army Corps of Engineers has offered to investigate and mitigate the risk.

GUILDERLAND — As required by the state, the Guilderland School District is working to reduce the lead found in water in many of its sinks and faucets, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds Clifford Nooney said Tuesday.

Parents of Altamont Elementary kindergartners asked the school board on Tuesday to create another classroom this year, to relieve overcrowding.

New legislation will soon raise the age to 18.

Guilderland’s teaching staff, like those of Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo, remains overwhelmingly white, a pattern seen at schools across the country.

Tara Molloy-Grocki is the new president of the Guilderland Teachers’ Association. She replaces Erin McNamara, who started in the post in 2014.

Jennifer Romano says her child, a first-grader, suffered “a violent attack of a sexual nature” on the playground by a classmate at Westmere Elementary School, so she is now advocating for better outdoor supervision and more exterior cameras.

GUILDERLAND — During the weekend of Sept. 22 to 24, the Guilderland High School class of 1967, will be celebrating its 50th reunion.

Activities will include:
