Two months after opening a hotel in front of Crossgates Mall, the mall owners are proposing building a complex of 222 residential units just west of the mall, on Rapp Road.

GUILDERLAND — Rhondasia Jackson, 17, stabbed two 15-year-old girls with a knife, police say, after they struggled to get back belongings she had taken from one of them.

The struggle ensued on Saturday, Sept. 29, at about 4:15 p.m. at Crossgates Mall, according to a release from the Guilderland Police.

Firefighters expect to have a definitive cause of the Sept. 8 spa fire within a couple of days.

GUILDERLAND — There is no specific target date yet for the opening of the dual-branded Hilton hotel in front of Crossgates Mall yet, said the hotel’s director of sales, Emily Cuda. “We just say ‘fall,’” she said.

“We’re on the cusp of months, so I don’t want to say one and it be the other,” Cuda said.

GUILDERLAND — A new eatery and a new clothing store will open at Crossgates Mall this fall.

Hospitality Syracuse Inc. will open a Taco Bell restaurant. Construction will begin soon and last about two months, according to Steve Pinkerton, vice president of Hospitality Syracuse, a Taco Bell franchise.

GUILDERLAND — New, wider, better-marked bicycle lanes along Route 20 from Crossgates Mall to the main entrance to the University at Albany are part of a $730,000 repaving project that started on June 25 and is to be finished in a month.

The idea is to create an environment that will encourage bus riding, walking, and bicycling, said town Supervisor Peter Barber. Most of the properties within the proposed overlay district are owned by Pyramid Management, owner of Crossgates Mall.
