Photos: Blackbirds Girls Win State Title While Two Others Run Well

On a cold and windy Saturday, Nov. 12, at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, select members of the Guilderland girls’ and Voorheesville boys’ cross-country teams competed while the whole Voorheesville girls’ team took part in the NYSPHSAA meet.

On their way to States: Voorheesville’s Mason Curl leads the way as he and, behind him, the girls' cross-country team, which won the Class D Sectional title, are cheered at a pep rally at the school on Friday. They will compete in state competition on Saturday at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.

The team of Mariem Sayahi, Lindsay Wight, Alannah McCarthy, Caitlin McCarthy, Merrin Brick, Chloe Kirgan, and Savannah Schmidt won the NYS Class D championship with 53 points.
