On Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8, the track teams from Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville battled against New York State's best in track and field in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
Last Thursday, June 6, before the BKW softball team headed down to Long Island to compete in the NYSPHSAA softball tournament, they stopped by the East Berne Firehouse for a quick bite with family and friends before being escorted off the hill.
Last Thursday and Friday, May 30 and 31, track athletes from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville took to the track at Guilderland High School in hopes to compete at the state competition this coming weekend in Syracuse.
Last Wednesday, May 29, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball traveled to Plattsburgh to take on Ticonderoga in the Class C regional semifinal. Bulldogs dominated to win 10-1 then went on to face St. Lawrence in the regional final on Saturday and won 14-0.
Last Thursday, May 23, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo track team competed in the Section 2, Group 5 sectional held at Waterford-Halfmoon High School. The boys finished third with 82 points and the girls finished in seventh with 34 points.
Last Thursday, May 16, Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball, the second-seed in the Section 2, Class C, faced off against Saratoga Catholic at home. The Bulldogs won 9-0.
On Saturday, April 27, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo track team traveled to Granville High School to compete in the Granville Blue and Gold Invitational. The boys’ finished second with 96 points while the girls finished fourth with 64 points.
On Friday, April 26, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo baseball team hosted the Galway Golden Eagles. The Bulldogs fought hard till the sixth-inning was their downfall. The Bulldogs’ fell 11-to-5.
Last Wednesday, April 24, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball team had a critical Western Athletic Conference game against Galway at home. Both teams are tops in their divisions and the game lived up to the hype. Bulldogs’ Sara Macrina didn’t allow a hit for a no hitter in their 1-to-0 win.
On Saturday, Feb. 24, Guilderland and Berne-Knox-Westerlo cheer teams competed against 32 Section 2 teams in the championships at Shenendehowa High School. Guilderland finished third among five teams in Class A and BKW finished second among seven teams in Class D.
