Photos: Guilderland Girls Best In State, Two Take Top Spot

On Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8, the track teams from Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville battled against New York State's best in track and field in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. The Guilderland girls’ team won the State and Federation titles.

The hurdles didn’t stand a chance: Guilderland’s Parker Steele breezes over the second to last hurdle in Friday’s preliminaries. Steele advanced to Saturday’s final with a time of 14.46 seconds and finished in second in the state and federations with a time of 14.27 seconds.

Making good time: Bulldogs’ Arlen Wright easily clears the hurdle in the 110-meter hurdle portion of the pentathlon. Wright finished eighth with a time of 15.92 seconds.

In the zone: Guilderland’s Avery Kerr gets over the second to last hurdle in the 100-meter hurdle portion of the pentathlon. Kerr finished 14th with a time of 16.95 seconds and finished 8th in the state and 14th in federations with 2795 points in division one.

Powering through the rain: Bulldogs’ Arlen Wright starts his motion to throw his shot during his second attempt in the shot put portion in the pentathlon. Wright finished in 12th with a distance of 36 feet, 4.25 inches and won the state title and second in federations in the Division 2 pentathlon with 3182 points.
