Voorheesville is proposing to install a terraced landscape amphitheater and stage along with parking on the nearly six-acre property, which was purchased by the village in 2017 for $70,000. 

On June 7, Business for Good will propose demolishing buildings at 40 and 43 South Main St. — it already took down the old Stewart’s at 42 South Main Street — and replacing them with a tavern, café, and parking lot

“I never heard applause for an application,” said Voorheesville Planning Commission member Kathryn Scharl on Tuesday following the commission’s approval of Anthony Berghela’s special-use permit request to open a restaurant at 112 Maple Ave., once the home of Smith’s Tavern.

The May 17 election for school board has the makings of a milestone moment for the Voorheesville Central School District, as board turnover in the past three years is set to top 70 percent. 

The incident occured on Friday, April 29, around 12:30 p.m., according to Voorheesville Superintendent Frank Macri; the arrested student had been speaking with other students when “another student heard the situation and brought it to the administration,” Macri said.

NEW SCOTLAND — Cynthia Whitney Brickman — who was devoted to faith, family, and friends — died peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, April 30, 2022, at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Home in Guilderland. She was 82.

Thomas Ray Edmunds

Thomas Ray Edmunds was a tough and tender woodsman, and beloved father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. He died on Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was 58.

“He’s not gonna come in and plead guilty on an arraignment,” Jacob Klein’s lawyer told the press outside the courtroom.
