Dorothy Deleskiewicz
VOORHEESVILLE — Dorothy “Dort” Deleskiewicz of Voorheesville, who worked many jobs while raising her two sons, died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, with her son William by her side. She was 81.
She was born in Albany on Feb. 1, 1942, to the late Charles and Sadie Rzany and was raised in Voorheesville.
“She enjoyed gardening and being outside,” her family wrote in a tribute. “While raising her two boys, she worked at Grand Union, Hartford Insurance Company, Dell’s Tavern, Picard’s Grove, and Smitty’s Tavern.”
She is survived by her son Kevin Deleskiewicz and his wife, Joan; her son William Deleskiewicz and his companion, Barb Sellick; her brother, Stephen Rzany; and her grandchildren, Steven, Anthony, and Carissa Deleskiewicz.
She is also survived by her nephews, Scott Dickson and Bill Schryver; her nieces, Cheryl and Christy Schryver; and her great-nieces, Phoebe and Zoe Ruhl.
Her husband, William Deleskiewicz, died before her, as did her sisters, Katherine Schryver and Carole Dickson.
“A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. at 70 North Main Street in Voorheesville,” her family wrote. “Please stop by and share your stories and favorite memories of Dorothy.”
