NEW SCOTLAND — Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will again be offered at the First United Methodist Church at 68 Maple Ave. in Voorheesville, beginning on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and continuing on Sundays for nine weeks.

NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Historical Association is pleased to have Barbara Baciewicz and Sharon Kielty, long-time volunteer interpreters at Historic Cherry Hill, come to our program on Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem, to reenact the crime of the Cherry Hill Murder of 1827.

These local students were named to the dean’s list or received a similar honor from their college or university for the Spring 2013 semester:

Rachel Coe of Slingerlands, at Purdue University in Indiana;

NEW SCOTLAND — The Voorheesville American Legion Auxiliary is holding its fourth annual tag sale, on Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Voorheesville Avenue in the village.

CLARKSVILLE — Matilda “Carol” Krause never stopped striving. An artist and writer, who worked for years as a colormatcher at General Electric Plastics, she always put her family first. As she coped with multiple sclerosis, she remained optimistic.

Voorheesville's mayor and village board plans to replace the Voorheesville Area Ambulance Service with re-trained volunteer firefighters. The retaliatory move would undermine the service without ensuring a viable replacement.

The Voorheesville School District is trying to revive its lunch program after pulling out of the federal lunch program. The district is raising prices and offering a new menu, after-school services, and catering.

NEW SCOTLAND — Beginning on Sept. 16, the Voorheesville Methodist Church, at 38 Maple Ave.) is once again providing take-out meals on Mondays.

On Sept. 16, the menu consists of baked lasagna with a green salad, crusty bread, and dessert.

NEW SCOTLAND — The First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville is starting its Free Community Lunch Program again this fall, the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

The first lunch will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m., eat-in only.
