A revered member and leader of the Berne community, Paul Giebitz Sr., died Sunday  as he was riding his tractor, an activity he loved, on Old Road in East Berne. He was 89.

How should motions be made to avoid later confusion or misunderstanding?  Should discussion precede the making of a motion rather than follow?

The town board seat soon to be left vacant by Eric Kuck will be contested in the general election by Dan Hanley and Ken Saddlemire.

The 21-page proposal for the Helderberg Earth and Sky Observatory came with preliminary drawings of a double-domed building housing two telescopes and a “large wrap-around observation deck.”

Tuesday’s town board meeting began with some sharp exchanges over how minutes were recorded, leaving town Clerk Tara Murphy “feeling like a scolded employee.”

RENSSELAERVILLE —  Endorsement by three parties, no opponent, and a temporary appointment to the board makes John Dolce the proverbial shoo-in for a town board seat come Nov. 8.

Eric Kuck, who is enrolled as a Democrat, was appointed by the board last December. His name will remain on the ballot on the Unify Knox party line.
