Dana Sherman values the camaraderie that comes with volunteering for the Knox company.

On Tuesday, March 22, the Old Men of the Mountain met at Kim’s West Winds Diner on Route 145 in Preston Hollow.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Deidre Lynn Andrus, a former deputy town clerk and a loving grandmother, died peacefully at her Rensselaerville home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, with her son and daughter by her side. She was 53.

“She fought a very long and heroic battle with breast cancer,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Runners took to the streets in Knox last Saturday, March 19, for the fifth annual Sap Run. The prize for winners? a pint of maple syrup.

BERNE — Randy Bashwinger, Berne’s highway superintendent, led a procession of 50 down the town’s main street under darkening skies Wednesday evening. On the march from the school to Town Hall they shouted, “Berne lives matter.”

When that chant petered out, they started calling “Crosier needs to go.”

Berne's supervisor and highway superintendent need to set aside their differences and work together to honestly answer this question: Is it more productive to have the highway crew work four 10-hour days or five eight-hour days?

WESTERLO – Edmund A. Keppler, who loved his farm life, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. His family wrote that he “went home to be with our Lord and Savior.” He was 75.

“He loved living on the land, and working outdoors,” said his sister, Dorothy Leicht. “He was friendly to everyone he met. He was a very sweet person.”

The good weather is still holding for we OFs who currently travel to the furthest restaurant on our schedule to have breakfast.

Michael Venuti has a large new house on a hill overlooking the Bozenkill. He told the town board at its March meeting that what he sees out his window every day is a dilapidated shack across Bozenkill Road from his house.

Without their own library, many Knox residents use libraries in Berne and Altamont but the town doesn't contribute funds commensurate with use.
