BERNE — Florence Remley Zimmer, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a talented craftswoman, died quietly at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, July 12, 2015. It was one week after her 103rd birthday.

BERNE — Charles H. Bassler died peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015, his wedding anniversary, with his wife of 62 years, Mary, and family at his side. He was 84.

His family, in a tribute, described him as someone “who was either on a lawnmower or in the woods.”

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Rensselaerville Presbyterian Church will hold services every Sunday from July 5 until Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in the historic church on Main Street in the hamlet. Everyone is welcome.

BERNE — The bridge carrying Route 443 over the Fox Creek in Berne closed on Monday, June 29, and is scheduled to re-open on Aug. 31 as part of an ongoing rehabilitation project.

On Tuesday, June 23, the Old Men of the Mountain met at the Country Café in Schoharie.

Thomas Fisher said he found vast opportunities at Berne-Knox-Westerlo, where he took advanced classes and bonded with teachers.
