BERNE — Greg A. Stempel, a hard-working arborist, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 25, 2018, at home with his loving wife, Tammy, by his side. Greg “Stewie” Allen was 56 years old.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board will decide early Thursday morning if Carli Elble will be appointed to teach at the elementary school for a year while the Dergositses take a combined parental leave.

The Helderberg Seniors are having a TaiChi class starting July 23 at 11 a.m. This class will run for eight consecutive weeks.

An Independence Day motorcycle ride in the Hilltowns for a young and “highly regarded” Albany Police officer ended with a fatal crash.

On opening weekend of June 24th, the Foxenkill tavern reopens in Berne.

On Wednesday June 27, Don and Sue Brittion donated a set of pet masks to three hilltown fire departments.
