A 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center after being extricated from her car on Oct. 10; police say the car was T-boned by a school bus after the 17-year-old failed to yield the right-of-way.

We were driving along the highway and started a discussion about the road maintenance signs. They are all over and advertise the local group that has volunteered to clean up along the highways as a community service project.

A Guilderland resident now stands accused of setting three fires in town, all in vacant buildings — a garage, a store, and a barn — over the last four months. Matthew C. Woelfersheim was in Guilderland Town Court Oct. 24 on the second and third felony charges.

GUILDERLAND — James R. O’Brien, a gentle man full of faith, died on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at St. Peter’s Hospice, following an illness. He was 62.
Mr. O’Brien was born in Rockville Center, the son of the late James G. and Doris E. (Burns) O’Brien.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Central School District will host a Fall Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Farnsworth Middle School. The last Recycling Extravaganza generated more than $3,500 in revenue for the district.
