GUILDERLAND — Mark Livingston, a political newcomer, has lived in Guilderland for more than 50 years. He attended Guilderland High School, as did his two children, and two stepchildren.

GUILDERLAND — Patricia Slavick, who works for the state, in finances, is running for her fourth four-year term on the town board.

GUILDERLAND — Lee Carman is currently serving his third term in the 29th District of the Albany County Legislature, but said he is running for town board because he feels he could make a bigger impact at the town level.

GUILDERLAND — Paul Pastore, an attorney, is running for his fourth four-year term on the town board.

He said that, during his time on the town board, there have been many measures taken to improve residents’ quality of life.

ALTAMONT — A new local horseback-riding facility is asking neighbors to donate shoes to raise funds for therapeutic programming for Schenectady ARC participants.

“We need to collect 300 bags of 25 pairs,” said Erin Pashley, the executive director of Victoria Acres Equine Facility on Western Turnpike in Altamont.

GUILDERLAND — A 90-year-old town resident couldn’t stop the burglar who entered his Wormer Road home last Thursday evening and, while he watched, took his jar full of change, say police.

GUILDERLAND — A Professional Engineer who was deeply involved in the community, James B. Hendricks was a family man. He died on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a short illness.  He was 92.

GUILDERLAND — A New York City man who, on Sept. 11, 2012, was stopped by a State Trooper on the Interstate 90 exit ramp leading to Crossgates Mall, and was found to have counterfeit credit cards and fake IDs, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to five felony counts.

A 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center after being extricated from her car on Oct. 10; police say the car was T-boned by a school bus after the 17-year-old failed to yield the right-of-way.

We were driving along the highway and started a discussion about the road maintenance signs. They are all over and advertise the local group that has volunteered to clean up along the highways as a community service project.
