Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, March 21, 2019

Drop-in Story Time at the Middleburgh Library will be held at 10:45 a.m. on March 26. This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome.

We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mahjong

On March 26, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Insight Meditation

On March 26, at 5:15 p.m., a meditation group will meet at the library.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors.

Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Caregivers

On March 26 from 6:20 to 7:30 p.m. come to the library for the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group program open to anyone caring for a Alzheimer's patient.

Moon Walk

On March 28 at 10:30 a.m. join us for an  Indoor walking workout. During this time of year when the weather is unpredictable, walking outside can be a challenge. Why not walk with us inside the library as we work through Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home workout videos. These “Walking” workouts burn more calories than a stroll around the park because they focus on a series of multi-muscle moves. A higher muscle engagement leads to higher calorie burn and of course more muscle tone all while being easy on the joints! Walking is the most natural and effective way to health and wellness, and works for anyone, any age, any size and anywhere. Classes with be 30 to 40 minutes long with time for cool down and conversation and will be led by our resident yoga instructor Vicki DeGroff. Please wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing. Registration is required.

Tai Chi

On March 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. join us for  Tai Chi and Qigong, from China, the cultivation of human energy Gentle slow movements, strengthen the body and calm the mind. These practices have been used for agility, balance, cognition and longevity. Suggested donation, $5. Please use back entrance as the library is closed on Fridays.

Homeschool Science Workshop

March 29, at 11 a.m. calling all homeschoolers to join us while we learn about science! We will have stations set up to explore science using Snap Circuits, Little Bits, Cubelets and much more! This is a family-friendly program and we will have a station set up for the little ones too!

Dinner & a Movie

On March 29 at 5:30 p.m. join us for the movie “Green Book"  rated PG-13. The library will provide pizza and drinks and you bring a snack or dessert to share!  Registration is required and seating is limited. You must be registered to attend.

Weights for Woman

On March 30 at 1 p.m. Coleen Delorenzo from the Body Fixx will walk us through the importance of weight lifting for women, especially as we age. Registration is required.

Cooking

On March 30 at 2 p.m. join us for Cooking by the Vegan Book. We pick the cookbook, you pick and make the recipe! This month's book is "Oh She Glows Everyday" by Angela Liddon. How the cookbook club works; Every month, a cookbook will be selected and will be at the circulation desk, for you to look at and we will print up the recipe of your choice. Sign up online, call or at the circulation desk, let us know what you're cooking so we don't have duplicates. Registration is required.
