BETHLEHEM — An Albany man was charged by Bethlehem Police on Friday, Feb. 9, following a bank robbery on Thursday.

For the third year in a row, Vooreesville is not projecting a budget shortfall, which comes after the district started the three prior budget seasons $100,000, $200,000, and $542,000 in the red. 

Knox implemented a year-long moratorium last April to give itself room to get a handle on existing projects and establish a more forward-looking perspective. 

“It’s the kind of board that’s not likely to win you a lot of friends ….,” said Robert Murphy, who chairs Guilderland’s ethics board. “You’re not going to win any popularity contests over disciplinary hearings.”

BETHLEHEM — On Thursday morning, a man wearing a mask handed a teller a note requesting money at Delmar’s Community Bank, according to a release from Bethlehem Police.

The release said events unfolded this way:

“Something’s got to give at some point,” said Supervisor Peter Barber, noting the town would have to either increase its water capacity or reduce demand.

GUILDERLAND — A new Chinese restaurant, Emperor Garden, has opened at Crossgates Mall.

GUILDERLAND — As it updates its comprehensive plan, the town is holding an open house on Monday, Feb. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Guilderland Town Hall, located at 5209 Western Turnpike.

GUILDERLAND — The six-member New York contingent for the Special Olympics’ “Capitol Hill Day” in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 6 included three people from Guilderland High School: Unified Coach Alison Relyea, and athletes Alyssa O’Connor and Cole Miller.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will help Rensselaerville and three other Albany County municipalities with water source protection by providing free consultation on matters of funding, data interpretation, plan development, and more.  

CHPE has deed agreements totaling over $2 million in compensation with close to 60 Albany County property owners, some of whom received no remuneration, like the county itself, to others who accepted over $1.2 million for their troubles, like the Northeastern Industrial Park. 

ALBANY COUNTY — A paramedic who worked for the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and who was also a firefighter for Troy has been charged with several felonies including burglary and larceny.

The recommendations are a synthesis of input from the public, topic-specific subcommittees, and the committee itself, as well as consultant MJ Engineering; the consultant’s participation in the process has been questioned and criticized. 

GUILDERLAND — A Farnsworth Middle School student has been charged with making a threat of mass harm, a misdemeanor, according to a Saturday release from the Guilderland Police.

Craig Lipps is taking the helm at a difficult time as Guilderland, like the rest of the nation, is facing a bus driver shortage exacerbated by the pandemic and is also facing new state requirements to move to emission-free buses.
