BETHLEHEM — An Albany man was charged by Bethlehem Police on Friday, Feb. 9, following a bank robbery on Thursday.

Asked how police solved the case so quickly, Deputy Chief James Rexford said, “I can’t really comment on the investigation itself. I will say that the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center was an enormous help in the investigation.”

Jonathan M. Green, 32, was charged with four felonies: third-degree robbery, third-degree grand larceny, second-degree possession of a forged instrument, and tampering with evidence.

The forged instrument charge involves a check Greene passed, Rexford told The Enterprise, while the last charge “involves tampering with evidence in the case so that it would not be discovered.”

On Thursday morning, a man wearing a mask handed a teller a note requesting money at Delmar’s Community Bank, according to a release from Bethlehem Police.

Police responded to the bank alarm at 10:32 a.m. When they arrived at 197 Delaware Ave., bank employees said a robbery had just occurred.

“It is believed the suspect received $4000 cash from the bank,” the release said, before he fled the scene, driving toward Albany.

Green was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Justice Ryan Donovan and bail was set at $15,000 cash, $20,000 secured bond, or $25,000 partially secured bond.

A preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in Bethlehem Town Court.
