GUILDERLAND — On Tuesday, the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, suspended Richard J. Sherwood from the office of justice of Guilderland Town Court. The court ordered that he be suspended immediately with pay.

Guilderland town judge Richard J. Sherwood and financial advisor Thomas Lagan were arrested Friday on felony charges, including grand larceny and scheme to defraud, following an investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Office, which says they stole $4 million from trusts they oversaw.

On Thursday, Feb. 22, the Altamont Board of Trustees was presented with the village’s first draft of next year’s budget for $2.1 million.

The Guilderland Dutchmen indoor track team competed in the Section 2, Division 1 championships on Sunday at the University at Albany. The girls finished in third place with 79 points and had two sectional champions: Isabella Bruno and Hannah Durant. The boys finished eighth with 13 points.
