After three upset victories in a row, the Voorheesville girls’ basketball team won its sectional championship on Saturday. Seeded sixth in Class B, the Voorheesville Blackbirds beat the top-seeded Tamarac Bengals in the championship game, 51 to 46, at Hudson Valley Community College.

Guilderland wants to receive applications for a new town justice within two weeks and appoint someone by April 3, according to Supervisor Peter Barber. The appointee would replace Richard Sherwood, who faces felony charges in connection with $4 million stolen from estate funds Sherwood and another attorney managed.

Bill Van Dyke, who began his United States Postal Service career 25 years ago at Altamont’s post office, returns as its postmaster.

GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland man was charged with armed robbery Thursday night after money was stolen from the Subway shop in Carpenter Plaza.

Andrew M. Clark, 27, of 2512 Western Ave. lives just a few blocks from the plaza at 2568 Western Ave.

ALTAMONT — Marijo Dougherty was a curator — a caretaker of art and of historic artifacts that she shared with others in ways that taught people about themselves. She was also a caretaker of people, caring for them personally and connecting them to each other in ways that moved projects forward.
