WESTERLO — Patricia “Pat” Ann Overbaugh Rapp “went to be with her Lord on March 10, 2019,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 81.

The acting supervisor, William Bichteman, cannot vote on the town board but otherwise has most of the powers of town supervisor. Republican council members say they want to leave it this way until voters can choose their own supervisor in November.

Richard Rapp, who has been Westerlo’s supervisor for more than 40 years, left his post on Tuesday.

We urge the board to hold a special election so that people can elect their leader directly.

A fire in Westerlo that destroyed a small home on Route 406 is likely due to electric space heaters that were used.

After more than 50 years of serving the town, Rapp said he is stepping down as supervisor this March due to family matters.

As the youngest boy in a family of nine children, Robert Snyder devoted himself to keeping the farm running as his sisters left to marry and three of his brothers served in the military.

Organizational meetings in Rensselaerville and Westerlo and Rensselaerville included both resignations and appointments.

Both Westerlo’s town attorney and code enforcement officer will leave their posts at the end of the year.

From 2005 to 2011, the water district’s finances were kept track of with Post-it notes in a checkbook, according to water board Chairman William Bichteman, who is asking the town board to approve funding for an audit of the district’s finances.
