WESTERLO — Ruth Christine Hannay of Westerlo, the founding librarian of the town’s library who was also very active in the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, died on Friday, July 5, 2019. She was 67.
The grant requires that some of the work to convert the stage in the auditorium at the Westerlo Town Hall into a records room be done by a woman or minority-owned business.
A group of residents and business owners from South Westerlo objected to the construction of solar arrays in town due to concerns about the safety of battery-storage systems and the effect on the vista.
Sue Hoadley, Westerlo’s library manager, has had many jobs in her life, but a love of research drew her to be a librarian. She will retire from her post this summer.
Acting Supervisor William Bichteman said he thought it was inappropriate to include Westerlo’s town seal in campaigning materials because it could be misleading. Trademarking town seals is not allowed and so the use of it by other entities is allowed.
Amie Burnside said it was nerve-wracking being the only Republican on Westerlo’s town board, but then, two years ago, another Republican joined her. Now the GOP is running for the majority.
Acting Supervisor William Bichteman, when asked who would take charge of the town during a planned absence, said that he had appointed former supervisor Richard Rapp and Councilman Joseph Boone as deputy supervisors.
