GUILDERLAND — “From the West Manor of Rensselaerwyck to Westmere: Three Hundred and Fifty Years of Guilderland’s Place Names” will be the Guilderland Historical Society’s program at its Thursday, Feb. 16, meeting.

WEST BERNE.

At the meeting of the Reading Circle last week, Mrs. Basaler met with a serious loss. Any one finding a hand bag containing documents and money of the order is requested to leave it at the post office.

SCHOHARIE AND BARTON HILL.

One of the larger historical homes in Guilderland has been rezoned from single-family residential to business non-retail professional, to help the owners, who have been trying to sell it for years, find a buyer.

For more than two decades, Alice Begley has been informing Guilderland residents about their history. At the end of this week, she’ll be stepping down as Guilderland’s town historian. 

A town park will be created in New Scotland at the site of the Hilton Barn. The land was given to the the town by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy after it was donated by private landowners to the group.

CLARKSVILLE.

The first grand ball given by the three bachelor girls of Clarksville will be given in Joslin’s hall Dec. 29. Good music will be in attendance. Refreshments will be served. All are invited.

Nary a trace remains of the long, slim, silver tracks that once carried the olive-drab, wicker three-seated trolley cars through our neighboring city of Albany to the town line of Mckownv
