An earlier era: The Altamont Fair is looking for pictures, like this one, that capture the fair’s history. If you have items to share, call the fair office at (518) 861-6671 or email .

To the Editor:

The Altamont Fair will celebrate its 125th anniversary from Aug. 15 to 20.  The 125th Anniversary Committee and the Altamont Fair staff are combing through decades of Altamont Fair pictures and artifacts, to identify places, people, and time periods.

Once completed, the pictures and artifacts (dating from the 1800s to the present) will be preserved for future generations of historians and fair patrons. Several exhibits are planned for the Altamont and Guilderland libraries plus a big exhibit and celebration is planned for Altamont Fair week, Aug. 15 to 20.

The Altamont Fair would like to thank Mayor James M. Gaughan and his Altamont village staff for their advice, assistance, and their generous donation of several items. The committee would also like to thank Tim Albright for his generous donations of fair memorabilia.

Are you interested in local history? Join the committee and have some fun!

Do you have any Altamont Fair memorabilia you would like to share? Photos, newspaper articles, etc. can be copied and returned.  The committee is also seeking donations of architect cabinets for display and storage. Call the Altamont Fair office at (518) 861-6671 or email .
