Photos: Guilderville Swims Well at States

On Friday, March 4, the Guilderville swim team — made up of boys from Guilderland and Voorheesville — competed in the preliminary round of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships at Ithaca College. Guilderville finished 22nd overall out of 147 schools.

Making a splash: Guilderville’s Jayden Lombardi springs from the board as his teammate Eric Ryan touches the wall in the 200-yard medley relay. Guilderville finished 12th overall on Friday, then on Saturday finished 13th in the state with a time of 1:29.31.

Gliding along: Guilderville’s Vincent Coppola gets a breath of air during his heat in the 200-yard freestyle. Coppola finished fifth in his heat with a time of 1:47.19 putting him 38th in the state.

Quick swim: Guilderville’s Eric Ryan swats the water away during his preliminary heat on Friday in the 100-yard butterfly where he finished sixth. Ryan swam on Saturday and finished 10th in the state with a time of 50.86, breaking the school record.

Top 15: Guilderville’s Vincent Coppola gets some air as he swims quickly in the 200-yard freestyle relay on Friday. The relay team finished 12th overall on Friday and then on Saturday officially finished 13th in the state with a time of 1:29.31.

Breaking records: Guilderville’s An Nguyen bobs up for some air during his heat in the 100-yard breaststroke. Nguyen finished 12th overall on Friday and came back on Saturday to finish 11th in the state with a time of 58.40.
