Lindsey Parietti  took a circuitous path to her first British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award. It’s a journey that began in Altamont and wended its way through Boston, Egypt, West Africa, to her current home, in the United Kingdom.

The Altamont Village Board at its monthly meeting approved having the village’s engineer complete and submit a grant application to partially fund an emergency water connection to Guilderland.

A group of concerned local residents is looking into its options for buying and restoring the Doctor Crounse House, which was previously set to be demolished but now is being offered for sale.

The Altamont Village Board of Trustees, with just four days’ notice, voted to wait until June to decide on whether to apply for a grant for a near-million-dollar water-connection project.  

On May 1, the Altamont Train Station Quilters will give a cache of hand-sewn quilts — ranging in size from infant to teen — to the Center for Donation and Transplant New York Chapter for its Comfort Blanket project.

After a lifetime as a painter, Irena Frinta, at 95 years old, has added author to her résumé.

ALTAMONT — “The world lost an exquisite human being on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Barbara Denise Harris was born on July 26, 1952, into a life of excruciating pain and magnificent beauty,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Michael Merwin, a 22-year veteran of the Navy, recently had his beef-jerky company certified as a service-disabled veteran-owned business.

ALTAMONT — Everett Rau, who lived and died on the farm his family had tended for more than two centuries, did more than make do with what he had. He transcended it.

ALTAMONT — On Saturday, May 5, the Altamont Parent-Teacher Association will hold the Albany area’s largest annual community sale. Sales will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be found throughout the entire area.

All proceeds will benefit the students of Altamont Elementary School through PTA programs.
