Daniel Barker, Altamont’s new historian, would like to scan historic documents and make local oral history available on the village’s website.

The first draft of Altamont’s 2019-20 budget is about $2.3 million.

ALTAMONT — Edwin J. Bradt loved living life to the fullest, whether it was during his long-time sales career or with his beloved wife and three children. He died on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was 93.

After two months of public comment, the Altamont Planning Board this week closed the hearing it had opened on Dec. 17, 2018, for a proposed cell tower on Agawam Lane and voted to allow the tower to be built.

Paul Malecki, an Albany resident, has just started a project looking at the history of car racing at the Altamont fairgrounds.

Two seats on the Altamont Board of Trustees are up for grabs in March. Incumbents Nicholas Fahrenkopf and Michelle Ganance both say they will run.

GUILDERLAND — A public uproar four years ago at the suggestion of closing one of the district’s five elementary schools because of declining enrollment led instead to filling empty classrooms with a private pre-kindergarten program. Now the district needs those classrooms back as enrollment is increasing.

The Altamont Planning Board this week got its first chance to offer comment on the new shop Stewart’s is proposing to build in the village.
