Hilltown food pantries are here to help

To the Editor:

If you were a member of the Hilltown community looking for help with getting food for your family, where would you go?

Did you know that there is an organization established in Westerlo to help families with just that?

This extraordinary organization is called the Hilltown Community Resource Center, or HCRC. It is run by both local volunteers and trained specialists who work hard to provide important services like HEAP [Home Energy Assistance Program], Medicaid, and food stamps to our Hilltown community.

Food pantries located in Knox and Westerlo are run by the resource center as well. Donations of food and supplies are always in demand, and to donate, contact the headquarters at 797-5256.

Any family items and non-perishable food are greatly appreciated. Currently, the HCRC is in particular need of personal hygiene items, tuna fish, canned meat, and dish detergent.

If you would like to set up a food pantry visit, please contact the resource center at the same number. And, if you're wondering what to donate, if you will need it today, or next week, or next year, people need it.
