The president of the library board describes the $4,644,478 plan — a 2.8-percent increase over this year — as “a business-as-usual budget.”

Mayor Kerry Dineen made the announcement during the village board of trustees April meeting. 

The lawsuit, filed April 24 in Albany County Supreme Court by Dustin and Catherine Abbott, accuses the village of negligence in the design, installation, review, and maintenance of its stormwater drainage system.

At the corner of routes 146 and 158, John Phillips is looking to add a mini-golf course along with an ice-cream and pizza shop on an eight-acre parcel behind his hardware store. 

On April 21, the board agreed to set public hearings for four proposed local laws: a battery energy storage system moratorium, the codification of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission’s involvement in future development decisions, amendments to town rules for building in environmentally sensitive areas, and  Accessory Dwelling Unit zoning.

GUILDERLAND — The Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza will celebrate its new location and 50th anniversary on Independent Book Store Day, Saturday, April 25.

The shop has returned to the place in the plaza where it opened in 1975 between two new venues, Sur La Table and Athleta.

The tax-levy increase is up 3.42 percent, which is under the state-set limit, requiring a simple majority to pass. Guilderland gets about two-thirds of its funds from local property taxes.

Without being able to get a marker through the Pomeroy Foundation, Haluska, an officer of the Guilderland Historical Society, set about raising funds. Twenty-five donors, with contributions ranging from $25 to $200, gave a total of $2,500.
