In March, internationally-owned but locally-operated Robert Wright Disposal began offering a year of free pick-up to customers in Altamont. And now, the hauler has done away with the annual fee — $55,000 — the town of New Scotland was charged to recycle residents’ discarded items. So far this year, the town has paid approximately $24,000 in recycling tipping fees.

BERNE — Rodney William Geel, a man who was passionate about his family, died peacefully at his Berne home on Monday, June 7, 2021. He was 67.

He was born on March 24, 1954 in Clarksville to Robert Geel and Shirley Martin. He attended Bethlehem School District and graduated in 1972.

When the Greylock Lane subdivision was approved, in 2011, it showed all the houses were going to be built in a line toward the back of each property on the private roadway.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Geraldine Morrill Waters.
