The New Scotland Town Board discussed how Heldervale and Feura Bush will begin to pay back debt associated with their special-use districts.

NEW SCOTLAND — Betty Marie Moak (née Tenney) “was an independent woman who traveled the world,” her family said.

She died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. She was 92.

The Voorheesville Central School District received good news from the state about Regents testing.

An interpretation by the county attorney of the three-year lease-to-purchase agreement of the Clarksville Elementary School between the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and the Bethlehem Central School District has the sheriff’s office looking to purchase the building outright as soon as possible.

NEW SCOTLAND — Firefighters helped rescue animals from a burning barn last Wednesday with the temperature well below freezing.

At its reorganizational meeting on Monday, Jan.1, the New Scotland Town Board welcomed new member Daniel Leinung, who takes over for Laura Ten Eyck; named two new members to the planning board; and made a number of appointments.

New Scotland Town Clerk Diane Deschenes said that she has collected over a million dollars towards 2018 taxes, as residents prepaid part of their property tax bill in the hope of avoiding paying more under the new GOP tax law.
 

Nazzerine Donato suffered severe burns to his upper body and face, according to a release from the Albany County Sheriff’s Department.

VOORHEESVILLE — The Board of Directors of the Voorheesville Community and School Foundation has three new members: Jaime Chismark, Emmanuel Arnaud, and Jerry Parmenter.
