VOORHEESVILLE — After three decades in education — 13 years as a teacher and 18 as an administrator — Voorheesville Superintendent Brian Hunt, in retirement, will face his toughest task to date: the honey-do list.

Five of Robert Baron’s six claims have merit, the judge said.

When Voorheesville updated its comprehensive plan this past summer, it called for the rezoning of the area around the former Smitty’s Tavern, which is owned by Stewart’s Shops. The rezone ended any hope the company had for putting a new and larger store on the site. This week, citing an inability to build a new shop, Stewart’s announced it would close its Voorheesville store.

The Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swimming team traveled to the Albany Academies in Albany last Thursday. The Guilderville swim team swam hard and fast but fell, 101 to 80. The team is now two and two on the season, and one swimmer has qualified for state competition in March.

Rozett to discuss Waldman novel inspired by the history of the Hungarian Gold Train

B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation continues its 2018-19 “Synagogue Scholars” series with a book discussion by Professor Martha Rozett of “Love and Treasure” by Ayelet Waldman.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds faced off against the Cohoes Tigers in an early Colonial Council matchup on Friday evening on the Cohoes High School court. The Birds’ tenacious defense kept the Tigers off kilter all game long, leading to the Blackbirds’ 51-to-35 victory.

Mrs. Claus held her annual teddy bear tea at the New Salem Fire Department on Sunday afternoon. Santa even made a surprise visit.

At Indian Ladder Farms on Saturday morning, Santa Claus decided to make a stop for breakfast and stop and see see some children that visited the store in New Scotland.

Voorheesville's Katy Bablin was selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association to participate in a convention held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who is an unsigned student athlete, to show off her talent on the volleyball court.
