Schools need to work with local government to blunt poverty’s impact.

KNOX — Even without the snow, the  Hilltowns’ Winterfest in Knox, sponsored jointly by the Knox and Berne youth councils, was a success.  After cancelling last year’s event due to lack of snow, the councils decided to proceed with or without the cooperation of the weather.

RENSSELAERVILLE —  The Carey Institute for Global Good has announced its incoming class of 20 fellows to the Logan Nonfiction Program, set to arrive in Rensselaerville on Feb. 2.

Tuesday is here again and the Old Men of the Mountain met on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Home Front Café in Altamont.

The Bulldogs led from the start last Friday night against Western Athletic Conference foe Schoharie at home, beating the Indians, 66 to 22. This was BKW’s 13th victory in a row, having lost just their first game this season.

Hitting the mat, the team combined of Voorheesville Blackbirds and the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs, which The Enterprise calls Bird Dogs sparred last Thursday against Duanesburg at Duanesburg High School. Duanesburg cruised to a 57 to 17 win.

WESTERLO — Pioneer Clubs members and leaders at First Baptist Church at 618 Route 143 in Westerlo will celebrate Pioneer Clubs Sunday on Jan. 29 at 9:30 a.m.

The ins and outs of BANs create a headache for Knox.

A town that wants to guard its rural character seems to be of two minds about whether to create additional business districts within its borders.

On Jan. 10, the Old Men of the Mountain met at the Chuck Wagon Diner in Princetown, and this scribe does not have a clue as to what went on because this scribe was not there.
