It is strange how, as we get older, the Old Men of the Mountain complain that the years go by so fast, yet at times, a day seems to last forever.

Route 443 in the towns of Bethlehem and New Scotland has been reduced to one alternating lane of travel during daylight hours as the state’s Department of Transportation repaves the road.

EAST BERNE — Lee Storm Crosier, a mother and grandmother who worked as a waitress and in elder care, died on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn with her children by her side. She was 70.

“Lee loved to spend time with her grandchildren,” her family wrote in a tribute.

BERNE — The Berne Republican Committee is hosting a Music in the Park event on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. as a benefit for the party.

The event, at the Berne town park, is billed as “Two Great Bands — One Great Evening: Friends, Neighbors and Fun.” The two bands are The Henchmen and Thick As thieves.
