A Berne man, who is already a registered sex offender, was arrested after texting and having inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old girl, police say.

Westerlo town leaders asserted that the level of chemicals detected in the water was always there, but that state standards changed. The state’s health department, however, said the standards have not changed.

KNOX — Discussions were heated at a special town board meeting on Sept. 26 as the board attempted to fill out a state-required environmental form for a proposed multi-use recreational district near the intersection of routes 156 and 157.

Proposed operating procedures would have Gary Salisbury, who is both Knox’s deputy supervisor and highway superintendent, head the transfer station.

Training began for nine members of Helderberg Ambulance to act as “vitalists” and conduct medical exams for homebound patients, who will also be communicating with a physician over a video feed.
