BERNE —  Ann (née McCusker) Flaws, who loved being a teacher, died at home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, with her husband and son by her side, after a six-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was 72.

BERNE — Mark W. Huth was dedicated to his family, his church, and his community. He died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, after being injured in an automobile accident. He was 76.

“He was very much a doer,” said his son, Michael Huth. “He had a lot of integrity and cared a lot about others.”

The second meet in the inaugural season of the Duanesburg/Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ swim team ended with victory. The team is made up of 12 girls from Duanesburg Central and Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Last week, Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls battled hard on the pitch and at the net, but came up short. The soccer team played Mekeel Christian Academy at home on Monday, trailing, 3 to 0, midway through the second half. The Bulldogs fought back, scoring two goals, but fell, 3 to 2.

A new reporting form for students was introduced this year at Berne-Knox-Westerlo following collaboration between parents and staff.

A three-year technology plan for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District is already being partly realized with an upgrade to its phone system and new technology for students.

After being launched from his motorcycle in crash in Berne, a Central Bridge man was charged with a felony DWI and operating without an interlock device.
