Matthew Stansfield from Berne, a member of the New York Army National Guard and assigned to the Company G (Forward Support Company Infantry), 427th Brigade Support Battalion, has received a promotion to the rank of specialist.

BERNE — Devoted family man and founder of Revere Construction, of Berne, Visvaldis Puzulis died on Thursday, Oct 3, 2019. He was 82.

BERNE — Archaeologist Dwight T. Wallace, whose work took him to Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru, died late Tuesday, Oct. 1, of natural causes. He was 92, and living in Portland, Oregon.

SCHOHARIE — “Be good to each other and take care of each other,” said Richard Bogardus of the lesson his late wife, Lorraine Bogardus, imparted to those around her.  Mrs. Bogardus died on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Palatine Bridge Nursing Home. She was 82. 

SCHOHARIE — Victor A. Santore was a husband, a father, a veteran, and a man who knew how to get things done. He died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, in the loving presence of his family. He was 102.

KNOX — Betty (née Pugh) Rocker, a mother of four children who lived in Knox for a decade, died in Falls Church, Virginia on July 1, 2019. She was 94,

 She was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Feb. 27, 1925, and grew up there.

The Helderberg Kiwanis Club donated school backpacks for 27 students at Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Each pack included school supplies and new sneakers.

WESTERLO — Robert T. Walter, a representative of Chosen People Ministries, will speak at the first Baptist church of Westerlo on Sunday, Oct. 20, during the 9:30 a.m. worship. His topic is “Salvation in Messiah Jesus.”
