BERNE — Jared Lasselle, 16, of East Berne, has achieved the highest rank offered by the Boy Scouts of America, the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Altamont Reformed Church and is a junior at Guilderland High School.

EAST BERNE — Katherine H. Thompson, a mother who enjoyed helping both the young and old, died on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at home. She was 84.

EAST BERNE — Eileen F. Sweeney, who worked with Berne doctors for many years, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the Shaker Place (Albany County Nursing Home). She was 94.

The daughter of the late Daniel and Frances (née King) Day, she was the devoted wife of over 54 years, to the late Leonard Sweeney.

EAST BERNE — Gail JoAnne Thompson, who handed down values like honesty and compassion from her parents to her children, died at home on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was 72.
