Isabella Bruno, a Guilderland junior, qualified on Sunday for state competition in the triple jump, long jump, and high jump.

Four good friends who have been swimming together since they were 9 have qualified for state competition.

The Guilderland Dutchmen indoor track team competed in the Section 2, Division 1 championships on Sunday at the University at Albany. The girls finished in third place with 79 points and had two sectional champions: Isabella Bruno and Hannah Durant. The boys finished eighth with 13 points.

Last Sunday, the BKW indoor track team took part in the section 2, division 4 championships at the University at Albany to move onto the state qualifiers this Sunday

Wrestlers from the Guilderland and Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Voorheesville teams battled in Glens Falls on Saturday for the chance to get into next weekend’s state competition in Albany. To earn an automatic bid, the wrestlers must win their weight class or hope to earn a wildcard birth.

The Guilderland gymnastics team — with 10 girls, three of them in middle school — showed grace, flexibility, and smiles to the judges in efforts to win a sectional title on Wednesday at Shaker High School in Latham.

For the Guilderland girls’ basketball team, Friday was not only Senior Night for the team’s two seniors — Jessie Fiori and Caitlin Gagan — but it marked a critical game for the Dutch to get a higher seed for the upcoming sectionals.

The Guilderland wrestling team battled for Class A championships last Saturday at Saratoga Springs High School. The top five in each weight class will move on to this Saturday’s state qualifiers in Glens Falls. Eight Dutchmen made the cut.
