Isabella Bruno, a Guilderland junior, qualified on Sunday for state competition in the triple jump, long jump, and high jump. She was the only one of the Guilderland Dutchmen competing at the University at Albany — among 13 runners, three relay teams, and six athletes in field events — who will compete Saturday morning at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Staten Island.

Big air: Guilderland's Isabella Bruno qualifies for the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 5.50 inches. She also qualified in Section 2 in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 2.75 inches, and in the high jump with a height of 5 foot, 3 inches.

Who'se quicker? Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s lone competitor in the state qualifier, Kara Sherwin battles Guilderland’s Justina Musa in the sixth heat in the preliminaries. Sherwin finished 17th with a time of 7.82 while Musa qualified for the finals, finishing fourth with a time of 7.53.

Fighting for position: Guilderland’s Sean O’Brien battles 13 other runners at the start of the 3200-meter run in the Section 2 state qualifiers on Sunday at the University at Albany. O’Brien finished in 11th overall with a time of 10:17.85 and so didn’t qualify for states.

Going for a run: Guilderland’s Anthony Cusato races in the first heat of the boys’ 1000-meter run in the Section 2 state qualifier. Cusato finished eighth overall with a time of 2:50.22 and so didn’t qualify for states.
