Photos: Dutch Pull Ahead of Patriots

For the Guilderland girls’ basketball team, Friday was not only Senior Night for the team’s two seniors — Jessie Fiori and Caitlin Gagan — but it marked a critical game for the Dutch to get a higher seed for the upcoming sectionals. In a close contest, Guilderland pulled out a win against Schenectady, 63 to 57, in a hard-fought game.

Fast break: Dutch's Valencia Fontenelle-Posson sprints up the court as teammate Aysia Pink follows behind her. Fontenelle-Posson led the team with 28 points and Pink had 14. The Dutch’s full-court press rattled the Patriots in the second half, which led to the Dutch comeback.

Going up strong: Guilderland's Graycen Dubin, is blocked by Schenectady’s Jeonna Anderson in the first half but that didn’t stop Dubin from going to the basket as she scored 15 points in the game.

Guilderland fought for every loose ball on the floor. Jamie Golderman corals the ball while calling for a timeout as Schenectady’s Ne Seyah Dix tries to wrest the ball from Golderman in the fourth quarter.
