The Flying Dutchman gymnastics team took to the mat last Thursday at the Saratoga Regional YMCA-Wilton Branch against one of its toughest foes, the Saratoga Blue Streaks. The Dutch performed well but couldn’t pull out a win in the 173.500-to-154.600 loss.

The Guilderville boys’ swim team, made up of Guilderland Dutchmen and Voorheesville Blackbirds, hit the water against Albany High at Albany on Monday afternoon. Guilderville led from the opening with a convincing 102-to-62 win.

The Guilderland girls’ basketball team had a tough Suburban Council matchup against Shaker at home on Friday night. Guilderland put in the effort to stop the Blue Bison but the turnovers and missed shots hurt the Dutch in the 61-to-39 loss.

Siena Women’s Soccer sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado of Guilderland has been named the Wilson MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, affiliated in the National Collegiate Athletic Conference Division I, is made up of 11 schools from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Ethan McDonald, a business economics major from Guilderland, was a member of the 2017 men’s cross-country team this past fall for the State University of New York College at Oneonta.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ basketball team hosted a Colonial Council matchup against Schalmont at home in which the Birds had a tough time cracking the Sabres’ defense in the 64-to-51 loss.

For the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs, Saturday was a first. The school had never before fielded an indoor track team and this was the team’s first meet.

Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo varsity bowling teams bowled at Town ’n’ Country lanes in Guilderland last Thursday afternoon.

The Guilderland Dutchmen indoor track team competed at Union College Saturday morning to start the season. The Dutch raced away from the competition by winning both the girls’ and boys’ titles; the girls’ team had 140 points while the boys’ had 130.50.
