Dorado claims MAAC honors

Siena Women’s Soccer sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado of Guilderland has been named the Wilson MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, affiliated in the National Collegiate Athletic Conference Division I, is made up of 11 schools from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Dorado earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season to tie Monmouth’s Amanda Knaub for the conference lead. Dorado previously was heralded as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first two weeks this season on Aug. 21 and Aug. 28.

Dorado’s three MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors also ties the program single-season record set by Laura Ettinger in the class of 2011 during the 2008 campaign. Additionally, the sophomore now stands just two weekly honors shy of Ettinger’s program career record of five MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Awards.

Dorado has both started and appeared in 13 of the Saints’ first 14 matches this fall, and ranks second in the MAAC in save percentage (.831) and third in shutouts (four).
