Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo varsity bowling teams bowled at Town ’n’ Country lanes in Guilderland last Thursday afternoon.

The Guilderland Dutchmen, out to defend their Section 2 title from last year, got off to a good start, beating Bethlehem, 30 to 2, and 3,683 to 2,749 in total pins. In discussion, Guilderland’s top bowler Andrew Apollo, center, talks with a teammate as Guilderland’s number-two bowler, Tommy Durand, who just finished his frame, is ready to join the conversation. Apollo shot a triple of 702 with a high game of 259 while Durand finished with a 638 triple and with a high of 231.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds won, 24 to 8, and 3,099 to 2850 in total pins, over Maple Hill. Releasing his shot, the Blackbirds’ top bowler, Matt Flandreau, throws the ball down the lane during his second game. Flandreau shot a 652 triple series and had a high of 236.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs fell, 4 to 0, to Schoharie and fell in total pins, 2,568 to 2,244. The Bulldogs’ number-two bowler, Dylan Hempstead looks at his ball in preparation for his first game. Hempstead bowled a high of 237 and a series of 603 in the loss.
