The Flying Dutchman gymnastics team took to the mat last Thursday at the Saratoga Regional YMCA-Wilton Branch against one of its toughest foes, the Saratoga Blue Streaks. The Dutch performed well but couldn’t pull out a win in the 173.500-to-154.600 loss.

Under the watchful eyes of her coach, Brenda Goodknight, Allison Rem takes flight from the uneven bars. Rem scored 6.000, finishing 13th in the event and ninth in the all-around with 30.250.

While sitting side saddle on a balance beam, Guilderland’s Shea Thomson top right, starts her routine, by regally raising her hand. Thomson tied for seventh with 7.500 in the event, and finished sixth in all around with 32.250.

While her teammates cheer her on, Madalyn Altieri points her toes while performing her routine in the floor exercise. Altieri finished ninth with a score of 8.300; she was 11th in the all around with a score of 29.150.

Daredevil: Rachel Drislane does a backflip on a beam just four inches wide. Drislane finished third in the beam event with 8.800; she finished fourth in the all around with 34.600.

All smiles: Guilderland’s Shea Thomson uses her right hand to emulate a phone as she looks back to the judge during her floor routine last Thursday. The soundtrack for her routine included cell-phone sounds. Thomson scored 9.050 and finished fourth in the event.
