The Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys' soccer team was on a high after upsetting #3 seed Galway last Friday but then had a tough time in the semifinals against Maple Hill on Wednesday.

Guilderland and Voorheesville were on the road for their sectional quarterfinal matchups last Friday and Saturday. Both football teams had a rough time against their opponents.

After convincing opening-round sectional wins, both the Guilderland and Voorheesville boys’ soccer teams played well but couldn’t muster a score in their quarterfinal losses.

The Guilderland girls’ field hockey traveled to Shenendehowa on Wednesday afternoon for the Class A sectional semifinal and lost to Shen, 2 to 0.

It was a tough week for the Guilderland soccer team Head Coach Curtis Snyder said the effort was there even though the results weren’t. Guilderland traveled to Niskayuna last Thursday evening and lost a game that was closer than its 2-to-0 score.

The Guilderland girls’ field hockey team team faced off on Tuesday against Bethlehem in the first-round Class A matchup where the Dutch fought to win, 3 to 1. The Dutch will face Shenendehowa Tuesday afternoon at Shen at 3 p.m.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo held their 2017 Hall of Fame ceremony at the school last Friday evening.

Helderberg Valley moved their record to 3 and 2 after playing Granville last Friday night at home for Homecoming.

With sectionals right around the corner, the Guilderland girls’ field hockey and volleyball teams made a final push last week.

Crossgates Mall staff started early Wednesday morning to build dugouts for the ballfield in Guilderland’s Tawasentha Park.

It was homecoming weekend for the Blackbirds girls soccer team last Friday night in which the Blackbirds clawed into the Ichabod Crane.

Volleyball teams for Guilderland boys, with a 2-6 record, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls, at 5-5, might be having rough seasons but they still play hard on the court as they push towards sectionals. This past week, both teams were victorious.

BERNE — This coming weekend’s football game between Granville and Helderberg Valley has been rescheduled, and will now be played on Friday night, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s field.

It is BKW’s Homecoming Weekend, and it’s also Senior Night.

 

Kicking it into high gear, the Guilderland girls’ and the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ soccer teams shut out their foes in games this week.
