The Guilderland-Voorheesville girls’ swim team is already making big splashes. Even before sectionals, swimmers have qualified for state competition: two relay teams, two individual swimmers, and two divers. Guilderville swam against Saratoga at home on Wednesday afternoon, winning, 92 to 72.

Several small-game hunting seasons open Oct. 1. In addition, special youth-only hunting seasons for pheasants and waterfowl open prior to the start of the regular season.

George Marinopoulos of Slingerlands is a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute football team. A business and management major he has helped the Engineers to a 3-0 start.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland High School senior Michael Ardito is preparing to make his fourth and final annual swim across Boston Harbor this weekend, to raise money to find a cure for the rare disease that affects his younger sister, Kati.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ soccer team was playing hard and not giving up on Friday afternoon at home, even if the record doesn’t show it.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs and the Guilderland Dutchmen raced in the 47th Guilderland International Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds and Guilderland Dutchmen are facing this season with new field generals since their mainstays graduated in June. The Dutchmen and Blackbirds opened the season last Friday and Saturday.

The Voorheesville girls’ volleyball team might have lost some key players from last year’s sectional final team but came back reloaded and is poised to return to sectional play this year as the team beat Watervliet last Thursday, easily winning three straight sets.

It was the final leg of the 2017 Hilltown Triple Crown that ended in Altamont on August 26th.

The Guilderland Girls Varsity tennis team is off to a powerful start to the season by winning the Oneida Invitational and two suburban council wins. 

The Guilderland Dutchmen and Voorheesville Blackbirds had a tough opening match on the pitch to start of the season for both teams on Tuesday August 29th.
