The Guilderland Dutchmen and Voorheesville Blackbirds had a tough opening match on the pitch to start of the season for both teams on Tuesday August 29th.

In the Dutchmen’s opening contest, the team dominated most of the time against Troy High School on Tuesday afternoon. But one goal post later, Guilderland hung onto the game with a 1-to-0 win. Jumping past the sliding tackle of Troy’s Max Ellis, Guilderland’s Brandon Ford heads toward the goal. Ford scored later in the first half.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds traveled to Ichabod Crane to kick off the season on Tuesday evening. The Blackbirds fought hard throughout the game but came up short in overtime in the 2-to-1 loss.
